Wonderful Copenhagen

I was so lucky that I could stay at Kristina’s and Hjalte’s place in Copenhagen. The awesome Danish couple who I met back in San Pedro de Atacama in May for a few days invited me to their home, they cooked for me, showed me their beautiful city and let me join them for a party with self-made burgers and lots of alcoholic drinks. Thanks, REALLY awesome! Let the good times roll!

Walking around the beautiful city with the river and lots of nice bridges, they showed me some good places and we also went to a museum to have a look at Danish art. Then I met up with Fee, Jan’s sister. Like a good fairy she handed me my new credit-card that Jan had sent her from back home. I was really glad for that awesome service as my old card would expire in only two days — it was in bad shape anyway with the microchip almost falling out of the plastic. Fee, Hjalte and I had a hot chocolate in a slightly touristy, but nice cafe before we departed again for the party that night.

The party took place in a common room for the two houses that was mostly occupied by students. People were very heartly and spoke in English for most of the time, making it easy to partake in the conversations. Time fly by quickly and at almost four’o’clock in the morning, we finally called it a day.

After cleaning up the party place the next morning Kristina, Hjalte and I went on a bike tour through the city. After a good amount of nice sights we ended up at Christiana, a kind of hippie exile where they have a “green zone” for dealing (soft) drugs such as Cannabis and Hash. You’re not allowed to take photos there (trafficking is still illegal) but it is a relaxed and friendly place. People have been occupying the former abandoned millitary buildings or creating new homes with their own hands. Sweet. It’s not that the government tried a few times to get rid of that place and the people, but in the end, they failed every time. That is a good thing for such a unique place, I think.

Later that day watched the Godfather movie at home after getting some take-away asian food and man, that film is so good, really. That was my week-end in Copenhagen and it’s been really sweet. I could have easily spent some more time there without getting bored. Still, I had to make my way back home slowly. Already October! Only three more places to go!
